Okay, so it's been a while. It's been a job and a grandson, soon to be 4 (just about a week away, in fact) later than my last post. I haven't stitched much in that time, if any. I've enjoyed being a grandmother way too much. I never had kids (my stepkids were 7 and 10 when I married their dad), so this grandson consumed my love and my time, and rightly so. I'm about to get ready to stitch again, but before I do that, I need to figure out what I have, get it organized, and form a plan. Until then, or as part of the plan, I have some cleaning out to do which includes doing something for my stepsons I promised a long time ago, so may as well make that part of this blog.
My kiddos (which is what I call my stepsons) have always been blessed with good cooks in their life. I've never experienced their mom's cooking beyond a grilled hamburger at the eldest's high school graduation, but there are plenty of things that they would eat that she prepared. I never did pry into what their mom did and lived totally in our world with them. I thought at the time that that was best, still do.
Now they are grown, living their own lives, not like I would like for them, but lives of their own choosing nonetheless. To be honest, my parents could have said the same thing about me, so as long as they are happy and living their lives on the right side of the law, I have no complaints. Can you relate? It's frustrating and freeing all at the same time. So strange, especially since I'm so involved in my grandson's life.
Anyway, today's blog is about explaining what I am about to do for them, not the steps they've decided for their own lives, but to fulfill the promise I made to them - to provide them with their favorite Mama Marsha recipes. I'm going through my cookbooks in an effort to fulfill another unexplained dream, so while I'm doing that, I'll get my promise fulfilled. As I come across those favorite recipes, as long as they aren't truly proprietary, I will share them here with them, and anyone else that cares to see them and try them.
I know that the Chinese chicken recipe from Miracle Farm (a school our eldest attended) is a favorite I will share first. And I will share a King Ranch Chicken recipe that has been modified from Homemade Gourmet days. My grandmother's meatloaf recipe is unfortunately, proprietary, so they will get that one by mail, and many others that I want to share with them this year will be found here, hopefully, with stitching that gets accomplished this year. (Brayden's stocking hasn't even been purchased yet!!)
A crazy post, for this crazy stitcher grandmother (Mimi) to get started for the year. I don't have 365 recipes to share, so I won't be posting every day, but I'm back with the bug to get this done for them, so you'll be hearing from me, that I know.
Until then, find joy in every stitch, and joy in every day, even if it's just one breath of one even each day. You will find that they grow from there until you have joy every day, even if you try not to.
